Alcoholic Root Beer Float, 3.4 out of 5 based on 27 ratings Print Recipe

This ingenious combination produces a delicious beverage worthy of sharing. Conveniently enough, this recipe serves two!

  • 12 oz. Root Beer

  • ½ Cup Vanilla Ice Cream

  • 1 Shot Bourbon Whiskey (2 Shots if you lack Kahula or like a strong drink)

  • 1 Shot Kahula

  • Whipped Cream (optional)

  1. Before preparing this dish, chill all ingredients. Warm whiskey and root beer will melt the ice cream far too fast and result in a luke-warm beverage.

  2. Pour your Root Beer, Whiskey and Kahula into a 2 cup measuring cup, or any bowl/container with a volume greater than 24 oz. Preparing it in this large container, as opposed to a drinking glass, will prevent the 'ol "There's too much foam in my glass" problem.

  3. Scoop the ice cream into the container. If using a measuring cup, you'll know when to stop when the liquid level approaches 24 oz. or 1 ½ cups.

  4. Stir the ingredients to ensure an even distribution of the alcohol. Continued stirring will slowly dissolve the ice cream.

  5. Carefully pour the mixture into two 12 oz. glasses.

  6. Top with Whipped Cream, stick a straw in it and drink!
