Oatmeal is a low-cost college staple, but there’s no need to settle for a bland texture-less substance. This simple breakfast recipe adds in raisins, walnuts and brown sugar and is a great morning go-to solution.


  • ½ cup Quick Rolled Oats

  • 1 cup Water

  • ¼ cup Raisins

  • ¼ cup Crushed Walnuts

  • 1 tbsp. Brown Sugar (optional)


  1. Stove-top preparation results in the best consistency, though using a microwave will work. For microwave preparation, simply combine the water & oats in a microwave-safe bowl or large mug and cook for 1-2 minutes, until thickened as desired, then continue on to Step 3.

  2. if using a stove-top, bring the water to a boil, add the oatmeal and cook for one minute. Remove from the heat, cover and let sit for about 2 minutes.

  3. Gradually stir the brown sugar, raisins and walnuts into the oatmeal, ensuring even distribution of the ingredients throughout. The goal is to have each bite of oatmeal contain flavorful contrasts of texture.

  4. Once cool, serve and enjoy!
