Easy Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries
A well known, healthy alternative to traditional fries, these scrumptious treats make a great snack or addition to any meal. Sweet potato fries are not only easy to make, but are also easy on the wallet!
1 Sweet Potato per desired serving
2 tbsp Cooking Oil
Potential Seasonings: Salt, Pepper, Paprika, Season Salt, Taco Seasoning (store-bought packets are great)
First, wash your sweet potato thoroughly and cut of any sprouts. Preheat your oven to 450.
Next, if desired, skin your potato. However, potato skins are a great source of fiber and skinning potatoes is just a pain. Give them a try just this once maybe?
Now, cut the sweet potato vertically in order to form fry-like shapes. Start by cutting the potato vertically in half. Then, place the potato open-side down on your cutting board. Cut layers, as thick as you want the fries, off of each half. Finally, cut these layers into independent fry strips.
Place the fry strips into a large boil. Drip your oil over the fries and apply the seasoning of your choice. Using your hands, toss the fries to achieve even distribution of the oil and seasoning.
Next, place a piece of parchment paper or aluminum foul on a baking sheet (easier clean up). Lay the fries out evenly on the pan, avoiding contact with each other.
Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, flip using a tongs or, if you can handle a little heat contact, your finger. Return to oven and allow them to bake for an additional 10 minutes.
Once browned, remove your sweet potato fries from the oven and allow them to cool for about 5 minutes.
Take out your favorite dipping sauce and prepare yourself to consume a great, healthy snack!
